NDX reaches 5000

8:46 am. Nasdaq reaches 5000! Could be a breakout. I am not sure I will trade anymore today. The market humbling me this morning. I fall in love too easily. I needed to have gotten out of all my positions yesterday – like Mr. 007 Gold. 🙂 Do you have your MoneyPenny? Or she a bond girl?

  1. Lots of writing today – thanks! I got lucky with JNUG and now need to get back in…easier said than done. Got my core unleveraged positions in quality miners that I’m sticking to until gold hits $2000~$2300. Wife: “The best way of saving money is if you (me) stop buying shares.” Koreans are too honest. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Yeah, after gold hits Martin’s long term target ($5000) or thereabouts (2032 at the latest) I will permanently exit the trading scene. I do not enjoy trading though it does fascinate me. Gold has clear long term visibility so I can buy with conviction…other stocks, I don’t know. I have read and agree that women are better traders than men because they are less capacious. A rich guy I know said this: “poor people buy stocks, rich people buy companies.” Really hit home for me. (By the way, I think you are a great trader.)

    • John, Thank you. Trading is work. To do it well takes tremendous discipline, focus, and conviction. You earned your trade 007gold. You made the decision of where to enter and where to exit. That is a skill. Bravo!
I have read that women are more cautious in trading than men. Personally, I have always thought men to be better traders because I usually see the top hedge fund managers are predominantly men. Men operate from a different perspective from women on a biological and psychological level, I think. Men pursue money to provide for and protect their families out of a sense of duty. I think that is why I find men honorable and admirable in that regard. I think there are some women who choose to take on that role, and that is honorable too. Personally, I have a man who wants to provide for and protect me. But I trade for financial independence as I like sometimes to be able to take care of myself. 🙂
